quarantine tank and ich?

I've been reading about quarantine tank and not quite sure if I understand it correctly. If the fish has been quarantined for 6 weeks and does not develop ich, can we say that this fish is 100% free of ich? And after that if we put that fish in the display tank, it will never ever develop ich? (provided that this is the only fish in the display tank).

Should never develop ich if the tank you put it in was 6 weeks fishless and you quarantine everything wet that goes in the tank. No sharing of any nets, gloves, algea scrapers, etc with other tanks that aren't in the same state.

One can only be sure after an active QT period - ie. copper, hypo, etc...

What about the display tank? If the fish in a tank don't develop ich in 6 months, does it mean this tank has no ich parasite? Or it's there, but just not shown?

There are no guarantees with living creatures, but the odds are in your favor that if a fish in the QT does not show signs of ich after 6 weeks it is free of the parasite.

It's hard to say - if all the livestock in the tank was properly QT'd then yes the tank is free - otherwise the parasite could still be in there.
