Red Hair Algae
I have what appears to look like red hair algae and it is growing pretty rapidly. What will take care of this? Snails if so what kind, crabs if so what kind, or fish if so what kind. I had a yellow tang but it died yesterday. Please Help!!!!

I heard some type of Cerith snails will eat it, but I can not confirm. I have never had the stuff. Good luck!

There is a red hair algae as well. If it is slimy and easily blown off, it could be cyano... if it looks like red cotton candy and does not pull off easily, it could be red hair. Pics would help if you are not certain.
Now that I think about it, I have heard that mexican Turbo's will eat it as well. The best way is to find the source and eliminate it. Tell us more about your tank.. parameters, lighting cycle, flow, feeding, age of tank, type of lights etc. |

turbos will eat it...algae blennie will eat it...but if you got fish dying and algae bloom you likely got water quality issues that should be your focus not the result of the poor water quality

I have had no luck with anything eating this algae (Turbo's, Fish and Crab).
It's a parameter question really. Things to consider: Need to make sure your Phosphates are zero, NO3 is zero, your skimmer is working efficiently
