What is best way kill aiptasia if rock out of tank?

Without killing the bacteria that is...

Hauling about 50 pounds of rock out of central system because the aiptasia is getting ridiculous. I dont want to boil it or anything that will kill the bio also..

Hyposalinity maybe?

Thanks

Torch them!

They can survive forever without light (as evidenced by the mass of them growing in my dark overflow).

Target spraying them with boiling RO water in a syringe to melt them away without boiling the whole rock should work. Otherwise, break out the butane torch and fry the little buggers and then use a course bristle brush to wash off the bit of char left behind!

Aiptasia can survive in dark habitats by consuming organic matter in the water column, so, you might be able to kill them in the dark, but who knows how long that might take. Kalk paste and peppermints FTW!

Put it in a tank with a power head & a bunch of peppermint shrimp. As long as you don't feed them, they will eat the aiptasia. It's when they have aq. food they don't eat it.

Yup. DI water + kalk powder. Mix it so it's just thin enough to suck up in a syringe. It doesn't usually kill the whole thing, but I do it every 3-4 weeks to the keep the few that I have down. Also, peppermints seem to like half cooked aiptasia best. They seem to go after them better once I've scorched 'em with the kalk paste.

Put it somewhere you can cover with a shell or coral rubble, they will move out from under whatever is on them onto the shell or coral rubble to get to the light. Then simple move whatever they have attached themselves.

Another approach is to cover them with chaeto then remove the chaeto once they have migrated towards the light.

I just had a temporary tank setup while moving into my new place. Fish were in a 20g, which had an overflow to a rubbermaid filled with rock. I placed my chaeto on the top of all the rock and after a week all the aiptasia walked to the top of the chaeto. I just ripped the little buggers off and threw away. Maybe not be the best plan for a big tank, but I was pretty happy how it happened!!
Anyone know best place to buy peps in the east valley?
