I've been keeping chaeto in my fuge for over a year without too much problems, in the past 6 months the crop in the fuge doesn't grow, it actualy breaks apart in small pieces and clogs the pump filter. I've added a more along the way from the LFS but have the same problem.
I was running a 65W florescent bulb and the LFS indicated they ran a 100w and had great results, I changed to a 100w bulb with the same problems. My water paramaters are normal, water changes are done regularly and no problems encountered in the main tank except for a bloom of red corraline algae thats taken over the back and side walls of the tank, very little green algae. Any ideas or suggestions about why the chaeto is breaking up? Its not dying or turning brown, the water is the fuge moves abit fast, do I need to slow it down, and if I do, how do I avoid the red slime on the surface? Thanks.. ![]() |
