Ammonia problems!

I have the fluval edge with a betta, , a molly, a platy, and an amano shrimp. the ammonia levels are relatively high roughly around 2.0. I have vacuumed the gravel. Changed the water, removed one of the plants that thought was decaying. I have done a ton of maintenance and the ammonia levels are still high i don't know what to do! i Have done this maintenance for 2-3 weeks and it has helped, the tank is about 5 months old. i also feed the fish every other day and sometimes once every three days.

Buy a new test kit.

it gives good readings on other tanks i have tested though lol

how do you know they are "accurate reading"? take a sample to your lfs to confirm.

i did and they have no advice, i dont know what to do

Try a good ammonia absorber, test often and see if it stays at bay or returns. If it returns then you have an underlying problem. But it might just need a good detox. Good luck and let us know what happens!

yeah, I would have 2 different brands of amonia testers onhand and compare resulst.
