About six months ago, I read a similar thread where people were suggesting the Marine Depot refractometer. I don't have one but the comments were positive.

+1 You also get a free bottle of calibration fluid ($6-$10 separately)

I suggest you don't get a Marine Depot one. The one I got was .30 off. I didn't have any calibration fluid when I first used it. After my cycle was complete I added a CUC and they died because my salinity was too low. Everytime I use the refractometer I calibrate it and it's always off. Make sure that you buy calibration fluid with your refractometer.

i know this kinda OT but with the calibration fluid cant you just use some ro/di water and calibrate that to 0.000? cause it should be pure with no salt in it?

I highly recommend the Bulk Reef Supply Refractometer; don't listen to people when they tell you to buy the cheapest you can find. I have experience with 6+ different brands and the cheap ones need to be calibrated constantly and don't give you a clear reading through the eye-piece. Regardless of which one you choose, I would also recommend picking up some calibration solution (which as mentioned comes free with the BRS model). JMO, Hope this helps!
