sump/fuge quick question..

how full do i fill up my sump/fuge before starting the overflow siphoning?
do i turn the return pump on before i start the siphon, or after?
thanks. I have it all set up.. i just need to figure out how to start it.

Fill the sump up to the point you want it running at. Then start your siphon. As soon as the siphon starts kick on the pump asap. Be prepared to shut the pump off if for some reason your over flow doesnt keep up or loses its siphon. If you do it this way you will probably have just a bit to much water in the system and may have to remove a bit. Once you get it up and running for a while kill the return pump and watch the sump. Be prepared to remove water if it looks like you dont have enoug room in your sump to handle the remainder of the water. Also Once you get it just right start everything back up and use a sharpie to mark the spot your water should be at when up and running. This will help you to know how much water to add when topping off.....

+1 on what Shane said, easiest if you have a second person to help plug and unplug your return pump while you start the siphon though. Unless of course you have a taste for saltwater
