purple lights

For a T5, what do the purple lights do? do they help the shine off certain corals better or is it barely noticeable?

If you're talking about bulbs such as the KZ Fugi Purple, they help show the reds and greens in your corals.

not a stupid question at all. Your welcome! Lighting is very difficult to say the least. There are so many choices that makes it even more difficult.

If your just starting out with T5's I would suggest reading through a couple tank builds that use T5's and find a common bulb configuration and start with that. Once you get some experience with the different bulbs you can customize your look. As far as the figi purples go, they look great but don't overdo them.

Hey, what do you know....haha! How's it going Ryan? I never see you over on RASOC anymore. You ever think about gracing us with your presence at one of our meetings?

Perfect advice there. The options for looks via different bulb combinations are endless. You can even use an actinic bulb and a figi purple for MH supplementation. However, more than one in a system will give you a crazy pink/purple look that in my opinion is very unattractive.
