I stopped my m/h buzzing!
and it may work for you...
I changed an HQI bulb yesterday, (was 14000k, now 20000k) and immediately had a loud buzz from the unit! So today, I've had the unit apart, and put the old bulb back in... now that's buzzing too! I opened the unit, switched it on (no buzzing!) and tapped the screwdriver on the igniter, capacator and ballast... still no buzzing! Unit goes back together (still lit!) gets lifted into place, and starts buzzing again... 'long (and very boring) story shortened... the mounting bracket for the ballast AND the twin bracket for the capacator and igniter had both worked lose enough to transmit a mains hum! Now I'm not saying for one minute that all M/H buzzing is from loose screws, but this really sounded like the igniter was dying! So before you go mad with a humming M/H, just take five minutes with a screwdriver!
