Eln-60-48p
I made the mistake of ordering the 48P meanwell, not knowing how much easier the 48D is to work with. It seems like there's not a whole lot of information posted about the P model, but what I can gather from reading all the threads I could find is that I need a PWM source to properly dim my LEDs.
I've just finished wiring my two strings of 12 and I'm trying to figure out how to test and make sure everything is working so far. I've tested the individual LEDs and it's a go. I found this thread which mentions using a 9v battery: http://www.reefcentral.org/forums/sh...php?p=16893424 Pardon my horrible electronics skills, but I am terrified of destroying my LEDs. Do I connect the battery through the meanwell? I ask because it says "AC in" on the power source side. I don't want to plug the 9v directly to my string and fry everything. What do I need to do? After I test them out, I would like to just bypass dimming until I have my hands on an Apex or some other LED controller. Looks like I can just pick up a 9v power supply as mentioned in that other thread I linked, but does the mAh matter? I've seen 9v supplies from 300mAh to 1500mAh.

The second diagram down is showing a meanwell plugged directly into the wall without a separate power supply. Is this something that would work with the 48P if I don't care about dimming? I have a lot to learn.

That picture is of a LPC model - they do not support dimming. You need a 10 volt regulated wall wart. Hook the dim - to the ground of the wart and the +10 to the dim +. This will be constant on. At least that is the way I read the data sheet.

I just figured it out on my own. My confusion was stemming from the fact that I thought the wallwart was the driver's only power source. I didn't realize that the driver had to be hooked directly to a plug, plus the 10v signal on the dimmer input. I have been using a 9v battery in place of the wall wart for testing purposes.
Holy cow. I'm partially blind now, those things are bright!

Suggest you order a 9v plug pack.
The plug pack will easily provide enough current. I found mine killed battery very quick. I dont think ELN60P should be driven below 9v. They will dim like a D as the voltage sags, but I think it is bad for it. |

What about these power supplies I found via google? 10v 700mah designed for a guitar amp.
