Octopus BH-1000 HOB skimmer
Does anyone have this skimmer? I just bought one from a fellow reefer and dont know if i have it put together correctly. There is a pice with a hole in it that is like a Disc, that goes between the pump and the intake tube, does this piece click on? Im really not sure about this piece and dont really see it on the instructions. i dont want to add/not add anything and possibly ruin the pump or burn it out but getting it wet due to a bad seal. Also there is a hole between the intake and output section does the cup go above this hole line or does the skimmer cup cover it? how high should the cup usually be? thanks in advance!

Try posting this in the new beginners section. I don't know why but in this area everytime I post anything I get tons of lookers and no one replies. I wish I could help but I wouldn't have a clue where to begin on this one.
I love the infant birdsnest by the way. It reminds me of mine when I got it. It was so tiny and precious and 7 months later it's the size of a baseball. |

Can you post a pic of the piece you're referring to? It sounds like you're referring to the volute but I'm not certain. If it is the volute, on my BH-300F the volute is a friction fit and then you attach an air hose to the nipple. You need the volute to be installed and run the air hose to it so that the pump can pull in air and create the bubbles that produce skimmate. I hope this helps.
