good,bad or just ugly
found a few of these worms in my tank today i dont think its a brissel worm but what is it? it has a bluish line down its back kinda like a nightcrawler its just realy weird and im not sure if it will do any harm in my tank should i remove them as i catch them or should i leave them alone? Dan

It's a bristle worm - they are good little sand stirrers and cleaners - just don't touch them with your bare hand. In the event you have an overpopulation, there are some things out there that like to eat them.

There are also traps available if you want to remove them. I have used one, and they are good at attracting the worms; but IME, the worms sometimes escape the trap.

I have one, and left it in there.
They are detrius eaters and sand stirrers. They get a bad rap because they will eat dead fish, but they won't kill anything. Up to you whether to put back it in or not. |

Don't make the mistake I made I grabbed it when I saw it stung or bit me. They are disgusting I did not realize tehy are a good part of your cleanup crew

Technically its a "Fireworm" as all Polychaeta are "bristleworms" but yes that is what most here call a bristleworm.
