HOB Protein Skimmer - Collection Cup?

I just installed my Reef Octopus BH100F HOB Protein Skimmer.

It's bubbling like mad and i know it can take a few weeks to break in.

How do I know how far to push the collection cup down?

Thanks!

Im not familiar with this skimmmer but most collection cups seat into the skimmer body with a gasket. I would push it down until its snug and not leaking anything. You want the bubbles to rise inside the column of the cup almost to the top not overflowing.

I have to push the collection cup way down in order for the bubbles to come up the column and spill over into the collection cup.

Once it breaks it, should I be able to raise the collection cup so that it doesn't sit so far down in the bubble chamber?

leave it a little high until it settles down and breaks in.

How will I recognize when it's officially broken in?

Thanks!
