fish dumping sand on anemone.

So yesterday I got my first lta. I have a blue cheek gobey and he keeps dumping sand on my anemone. Will this bother the anemone? Should I remove the sand that's on him?

Put some extra flow towards the anemone as nothing likes a lot of sand on 'em That gobey just does not like that its getting all your attention now. Maybe he'll ditch the attitude and stop putting sand on the nem...jk

The gobey more then likely is trying to get the anemone to move or cover it up as it knows the anemone can kill it. Just think if you found a home or a spot you like to hang out and their was one thing you don't like wouldn't get rid of it. Also it just could be in the way of the gobey making changes to the tank.

The only reason I have the gobey was to clean my sand when I started my tank. Now that my tank is established will the sand still turn brown if I don't have the goby?

Does the goby have a territory staked out ? If so can you relocate the anemone?Preferably a little higher in the tank.

Keep the gobey, if you can adjust the flow more tward the nem to keep the sand off that would be best.

He js a spot on the other side of the tank but he is digging a hole at the base of the nem and the rock.

If my sand will stay white I would really rather return the goby. He dumps sand on everythng.

And that will most likely cause the LTA (( M. doreensis )) to move, since they aren't fans of a lot of flow.

I am sure that the sand is irritating it. I would give it a week -- at most -- and if it is still happening, you are going to have to make a choice.

But, to make sure it is the sand...

what are your current parameters -- with numbers.
what lights do you have?

turkey baste lightly

directing the flow directly at the anenome definitely will cause it to move.
They like flow but not directed directly at them I find.....

I would take a turkey baster and very very lightly turkey baste the anenome
to get the sand out of it....not too hard or you will basically sandblast it and
could damage it.....

I agree to put the anenome up higher in the tank....because good luck
catching that goby......but if you can catch the goby thats the way to go.

Best of luck,

Tim

I am going to try to remove him he is a pain. Being he has a big mouth I'm gonna try using a small fish hook and fish him out.
