tiny baby stars
Would my six line have eaten my tiny baby stars? They were on the glass, but now no where to be seen.

Yes your wrasse will eat anything in the tank that is small enough to fit in his mouth, but sometimes the star fish are a bit quicker and if you have really porous Fiji rock they can cohabitate due to the fair quick reproduction of the star fish.

+1, I doubt that they are all gone just scarce thanks to your wrasse. I notice that they tend to populate in waves, I see tons of them and then they disappear, it might have a lot to do with water conditions or some other factor but I tend to think they become food for the other tank mates.

These are the very small stars that even at maturity are only about the size of your thumbnail, and the babies were quite small. BTW what are these stars good for? And on another note - will my six line eat all the pods? I was hoping to have a mandarin down the road.

They eat detritus and leftovers. very good part of a reef CUC. Yes he will eat any ones he can find but again they are very quick and if you have porous rock work they will survive in waves just like the stars. I do think you would have a hard time keeping a mandarin with a 6 line in a 65g unless it ate frozen food as well.

I far as I can tell, they're good for nothing.Personally,I think they sometimes get a taste for zoas and palys. If your wrasse ate them, consider yourself lucky. I know fellow reefers that have borrowed Harlequin shrimps to kill off these stars.

Wasn't thinking about Asterina...lol I was thinking about baby brittles. Yea if they are fat and not long legged and lanky than they are Asterina. I do like them they do work well in the CUC, not as well as the mini brittle stars, but they do boom out of control sometimes with there populations.
