You are saying they don;t come back on automatically after a surge?
What do you do to get them back.

I am not 100% sure, but when a surge hits certain electronic/electrical devices, in this case a ballast, unplugging that unit for a bit then plugging back in is sometimes normal.

Some have certain "surge" protection features.

That also happens to mine. What I have to do is unplug it take the fuse out , put fuse back in the plug it back in. Then it will work. I guess that just might be normal but not sure

I also have to remove the fuse from the side of my icecap 660, put it back in, then restart the timer I have it on. It normally doesnt turn off outside of the timer, unless the power flickers or something during a storm.

Thanks, Steve

They are designed to stay off after a surge as a protection. I had that issue for a while then added a high end surge protector. Spent about $250 for it. After adding it I have not had a problem with the surges in the house.

i have a lot of power outages where i live. power will go off for a second or two & come back on. mine always restart on their own. im sure im getting some kind of surge when this happens. it happens at least one or two times a week. i have had to turn switch off & back on a time or two. but not everytime it happens

A power outage is different than a surge, you do not always get a surge with the outage. Also an actual outage, even for a minute, will alow the ballast to "reset". On my power I can watch it run about 119-123 volts then spike to the 140's, this would shut the ballast down until I reset it.
