10g filter solution

Well, since i started cycling my tank two weeks ago, two HOB have blown up on me. I don't want to waste money on another HOB and have the same thing happen. What are my options? I heard canister's aren't much better. I don't really have room for another tank to set up a fuge or whatever. All help will be greatly appreciated

Can't figure it out. Took it apart and the impeller was fine and everything was clear. The motor on the 2nd one doesn't really sound like it's running. The first one makes all sorts of noise but it also appears to be clear

I think the first one definitely sucked some sand in and then broke. The second one just suddenly stopped working.

they dont run off of a mortor, they use magnets to work. they have a strong magnet in the filter itself and that magnet pulls on the impeller in all directions to make it spin sort of like in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHaMOS6xb0c

clean the filters out and see if there was sand in there.

I've been running two AC 70's with the 50s impeller for about seven years almost non stop and they're still going strong.

Cool. That's a long time so good to hear! I think the amount of flow should be perfect. It's less than the Penguin 150 I replaced so no I'm just gonna get a Korilia nano or something
