Question Help with nano cuc please!!

Hey all,

I will be getting a JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Cube shortly with a small CPR HOB Fuge. I will be using about 30lbs of LR and about 2in worth of LS (25-30lbs?). I know this is talking a good bit in the future and is pure speculation, but I was wondering what the appropriate CUC be composed of in terms of what kind of different snails and how many, as well as mini hermits. I want a lot of diversity when it comes to my CUC since I can't keep too many fish or other organisms as is.

I was thinking about 4 cerith, 4 Nassarius, 4 astrea snails (2 coneheads and 2 spiny stars) and 3 Nerite Carribean snails, with maybe (one of the following) 1 bumblebee, 1 turban, 1 aquacultured mini abalone. Would this be overkill or good for snails?

For hermits and crabs I would have 1 Dwarf Green Leg Hermit, 2 Dwarf Zebra Legged Hermits, 2 dwarf red legged hermits, and 1 dwarf blue legged hermit. On top of the hermits i'd like to get an emerald crab, staghorn hermit, or a crinoid squat lobster but I dont want to have too much of a CUC that they start killing eachother for resources and I know staghorns are a ***** to take care of.

On top of these is there anything else I should get? I was going to get mini brittle stars, beneficial bristles, live rotis, live pods, and live phyto cultures to aid the CUC whether for food reasons or for cleaning reasons.

I feel I am overthinking and being overzealous but like I said earlier, i'd rather have diversity than just 7 blue legged hermits and 10 ceriths and 5 nassarius or something like that...Also, should I put any of these lil buggers aside from the rotis, pods, and phyto in my HOB fuge, I plan on having LR, Fuge Mud, and LS with cheato in that as well...

Thanks for all help and input in advance!

I have the same tank. I bought 5 turbo snails and 10 ceriths. I have a huge micro brittle star population as well. I added one emerald crab recently too. That's all I have that is easily viewed by the eye. I only keep two clowns in the tank, though!

You may be putting in too much of a CUC, but that really depends on the load in the tank. I would just start slow, add the guys you like as needed, and move on from there. Typically, I see a lot of people who say 1 CUC critter per gallon, but I've found that to be way too much, especially in a lightly stocked tank.

Also, don't bother buying any pods. They'll show up in the tank eventually anyway.

Thanks guys for your input, I figured I was being overzealous but I was just speaking hypothetically on a cuc for a fully established tank with a green clown goby, six line wrasse, dart fish, and clown. Plus I do want cleaner shrimp and as I said earlier some type of porcelain/emerald crab or squat lobster...
