Super Reef Octo vs Super Reef Octo XP

Looking at the 2000 or 3000 model. Is the xp version worth the extra $160 dollars or so? Can the cone design really improve performance that much? I'm looking to replace a Euroreef 135 so I'm assuming either one would be a huge improvement. Suggestions?

I have the Sro 5000 on my system and the things just a beast, I don't know if ones better than the other but
I can't imagine going wrong with either, if funds allow get the cone cause it's cool
Both are beasts so won't go wrong with either

I just got a sro2000 and am very happy with it. I never considered the XP because its listed footprint wasn't a good match for my sump. The 2000 is much, much nicer than my ER-100 that it replaced.

I don't know of any hard data as to whether the cone is better or not, just the theory. As to if an extra $160 is worth it, I don't think anyone can answer that question for you. As stated above, it does have a higher 'coolness' factor, but to me, its probably not. My tone might have changed though if I had the surplus money and the space to put it.

Cones usually have a higher gallon rating.

From looking at the shape of both of them, and from some reading I've done, I don't think that the xp series is worth the price difference. It seems like the full cone body might give a slight improvement over the regular sro series, but not enough for me to justify the price difference.
