150w metal halide over a 10 gallon tank? Do you have that thing on a chiller? That's massive overkill for that. And I've gotta ask how you fit 70lbs of live rock in a 10g tank..........that's a lot of rock!
Hang it at least 10-12" off the surface of the water.

LMAO, 70lbs in a 10G? How much water do you have? I'd say you've got at least a 1/2 gallon worth's in there somewhere. Was the idea a tide-pool biotope? Okay so for distance. I had a 250 Outer Orbit over my 10G while I was waiting to put it elsewhere. I had it 18" above the tank and a fan on the tank whenever it was on and it was okay. Too much light, for sure, but it wasn't awful.

in reply i have mostly small pcs of rock maybe 3 pcs are about 10- 15 lbs each. all fiji. here is pic of tank. The lights are about 18" above tank. thanks for your input. I also have LEDS that i had on 1 was only 8" long 460nm and the other was 18" long and 12000k but didnt get much shimmering from it. may go back to LED when i can afford a whole unit.

Heck, I'd scrap the MH all together and run on the T5's. Two T5HOs (swapping one for full spectrum of course) is plenty over a 10 for your buttons - and definitely many softies, etc. so long as you lower the fixture.
