What to stock in a 55gallon tank? or is it even 55gallons?

Hey guys i have an empty 4x2.5x2 tank (not sure if its 55gallons or what) with some big live rock in there. i was thinking about taking out all the rock and having a group of Blue Damils and an eel. And this is my first post

so please forgive me if i made any mistakes! thanks!

MOST eels eat Anything thats not big enough to eat it

well if the tank is empty then you dont have any "live" rock. after you let the tank cycle (preferably with live sand and live rock, they act as natural filtration and are very beneficial to KEEP in your tank) then you can think about what to do with the tank

at 4x2.5x2 I'm assuming you mean 48"x30"x24"? If so thats muuuuuch larger than a 55 gallon tank.

You're looking at a 150 gallon tank and are looking at far more options for your stocking list.

A 55 gallon tank is going to be 48"x12"x24" or 4'x1'x2'

Is it a wave tank? If so I believe they are 90g.

If you do all clowns it would probably be best to add them all at once and to stay close in types as some are far more aggressive then others. I am not a clown expert though so I would suggest doing research on them before commiting to it.

No. They only get along in the LFS because that is not their permanent homes. They are under stress and hardly ever stay in there for long.

Clowns become territorial and keeping more than two is a tank is asking for trouble.

but i plan on adding them all at once as babbies. i did some of my reserch and i plan on adding the "nice" type i forget what there name is called. please forgive me if am wrong, but am sortof new to saltwater fish keeping. I remember once my dad had 3 Clowns in a tank and did fine. i dont see the diffrence in keeping 2-3, to 12-13

For someone who claims to be new to this hobby you seem to have all of the answers. There is a huge difference between 2-3 and 12-13. Do more research.

how am i saying i have the answers???? am just expleaning my plan. how is that a HUGE diffrence your just adding more. i dont see anything HUGE about it.

i suggest buying the book clownfisies by joyce wilkerson. before jumping in and buying 10 clowns. IMO you will end up seeing a royal rumble in time (maybe not at 1st but later).

for tanks of our size 2 is what is suggested to live comfortably, there are alot of other fish that you can put in the tank besides clowns that will all get along. but do your research 1st.

thankyou shift, ghost, and salt for resonable answers. i guess i cant do that with clowns, maybe ill do a group of Blue Damsels or a group of Green Chromis is fun to watch.

IF it truly is a 150 gallon tank, you could probably do a 3 group of some zebrasoma sp..

Or look into some of the other schooling fish, one that looks really nice is the wreck fish (goes by many other names) but I think they may get too large, research is your friend, and asking questions.
