Rainbird valve for auto top off

Anyone have any experience using a rainbird solenoid valve in an auto top off system? I have the jbj topoff controller and the valve but don't know how to connect them. The valve says 24V and I tested the output on the jbj and it is 120V. I'm thinking I can get a 24V ac adapter and wire it onto the valve and plug it into the jbj.

Will this work?

it should work. But it would be a lot easier if you just used a float valve for topoff and it would be so much simpler

MOST sprinkler valves have metal, including copper in some cases, inside in contact with the water......

Thanks for the tips. I had already bought the topoff system thinking I would be controlling a pump in a remote location. Now I have a 25 gallon tank in the closet next to the tank so I thought I could use the pressure of the tank with the contoller and valve. But you're right drob, simpler is usually better. I think I will return the unecessary equipment.

Old thread, but for future reference: Most of these type valves require a substantial supply-side pressure to open and/or close properly (depending on the type).
