"Project: Jenova" A Psychopath's 70g LED Powered Dream.....

Upgrading from my POS/HOB Petco 55g SPS/LPS Reef on cinder blocks..... I scored a Oceanic Tech 70 from a friend and some how ended up on an adventure to upgrade my tank. I transferred my 55g from Arizona to California in Jan 2009.... I wanted to set it up so fast I just did what I could... well, it ended up becoming a SPS dominated/LPS collecting reef with a 6x54w TEK light over it in no time.... with that said, time made me not want to upgrade or move it... so it was ghettttoooo.... but the corals were nice!

Anyways... I'm a big DIY guy, I love to shoot pictures and HD video.... and I've been wanting to do/try so many things over these past 2 years with my tank... now I get the chance! I've always hated my aquascape in the 55g/previous tanks... so this time I wanted to have two large rocks... since it would be difficult to find 2 single/large rocks to fit my 25" tall tank.... So we build.

The tank is not running yet, I have to replumb and get a bunch of equipment/stuff beforehand... but I started doing my dream rock work and creating the vision.... muahhahahahaha

--Specs--

Tank/Stand: 70g Oceanic Tech(36"x18"x25H")
Lighting: Illuminarium 120w LED pendant
Everything else TBD

Videos coming soon when there is motion... here are some pics of my rock work build for now! Thanks for checking it out!

Illuminarium 120w LED Pendent

I used a bunch of epoxy and love to stick the rocks together.

Welding of the right rock tower....

Testing the rock in the tank... heavy!!

That rock work is amazing!!! How did you make that stable? I can't wait to see this tank unfold.

P.S. your artwork is great too.

The rocks have been collected from many states, LFS and people over the past 2 years.... It's a little mix of everything!

To shadow my psychosis and malevolence.. I wanted to build a tank that reflected me as much as possible... hence the wicked rock work, bright LED and what not... *pats back*

I dunno, I was in such a rush to start/build all other tanks that I finally have some time to build the tank before the reef ya know? I always wanted fixed rock work.. and I always wanted to have the sickest aquascape I could imagine. Given the pieces I had... this is what I came up with.

Stability came from patience!! I would glue one piece down every hour while adding more weld to previously fixed pieces ensuring extra strength....

... um, to make it this stable, I used about 100 bucks worth of super glue and 16 sticks of Aquamend/Waterweld. The key to keeping it solid is welding EVERY contact point these rocks make... I was flipping the entire structure 360 degrees to make sure it was legit. Time consuming, but 200% worth it.

wow u spent 10 on glue? just use cement.... it will hold in like 1 min.... just dab a bit on every touching point like you did with the epoxy. lot less expensive and its a darker color.

i do love the wicked rockwork.

Are you in Witness Protection or something? I mean why cover up with a blanket so your reflection won't be seen? LOL . I really like the rockwork.

Just curious - is Jenova a Final Fantasy VII reference?
