paint the outside of the tank with a latex based paint, that way if you ever want to change it, it will peel off in big pieces.

IMO I think the latex paint with a paint brush will be easiest and safest now that the tank is running. with the fusion paint it will be sprayed on and unless you cover the walls and all around the tank the overspray will be a mess.

Small roller, latex paint, and multiple coats worked best for me. The only downside or upside depending your view is that it will peel off easily with water.

I used Krylon Fusion psray paint. With little space and the tank running, a roller would be better for you.

I had my tank close to the wall and just bought a piece of plexiglass to fit the back and spray painted that with krylon fusion. It was easier then the sticky backgrounds and looks really nice.
