SCMAS Meeting Friday July 16th (Guest Speaker: Jake Adams of Reef Builders)

When: Friday, July 16th 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.
Where: IHOP, 1001 E 17th St, Santa Ana CA 92701-2546
To learn more about SCMAS: www.scmas.org

Guest Speaker: Jake Adams

Jake Adams is a professional marine aquarist from Colorado. He has a Bachelor's degree in Marine Science and he has worked with spawning corals in Puerto Rico. Jake is the founder of Coralidea.com, and he is the senior editor of the popular reef aquarium blog, ************.com.
He has consulted on the design and installation of large reef tanks, retail stores and research tanks and when he isn't speaking to reef clubs or writing for marine aquarium publications, Jake also likes to work with freshwater planted aquaria.

Topic: The future of the Hobby (Interzoo 2010 review)

Jake is coming to town fresh off his trip to Germany for Interzoo, the worlds largest pet trade show. Companies bring out all the stops to impress at this show and I'm sure you won't want to miss this presentation.

SCMAS meetings are open to all non-members as well! We would love to have you there.

Hope to see you all there.

Sorry Gresh, this was arranged last minute by Ecoxotic. We were planning on flying in Murray Camp from Dallas for this months meeting but we postponed to make room for big Jake!

Does anyone need a 30 gallon tall glass aquarium with black trim and no scratches? It's not going to work for my ato res afterall.

Anyone have any zoanthids they'd like to trade for it?

No problem Sanh. I got the rock taken care of. You were gonna let me borrow your rkl, but I honestly just need to buy my own.

Just trying to give my nano some more color with the easy stuff... Not lookon for anything in particular. Got any bright ones you wanna frag?

Oh and the wm skimmer is working great by the way. Dark and nasty.

Wish I could make it, my softball team I play on tonight would be short if I did not show so I will have to miss tonight. I will be doing the field trip and was wondering if it would be kid friendly or not? Have fun at the meeting and somebody learn something for me from Adams

It is well behaved kid friendly. Yours qualifies. If he does misbehave I expect to see a beating. I'm not bringin mine because a beating would be imminent. JK

Jake enjoys being interrupted with off topic questions (since I can't make it to shout them out myself during his talk)

Don't worry Gresh, you definitely would have been proud of us. Jake show a pic of a former Nazi building that had been converted to a Burger King. I asked the questions that has been burning in my mind since 1994. I said, "What do they call a Whopper because John Travolta in Pulp Fiction said he never went into Burger King.
