Could my cheato be dying?
Last week i have cleaned out my sump and about four days ago i have noticed my skimmer is working 10x than it did before. My cheato started developing this white stringy slime. I have always been running carbon and GFO.
FYI, my tank is a 90g with low nutrients(prodibio)also with 15 fish feeding 3-5times a day. |

something has shifted, and you most likely have overdosed on carbon sources for the slime to be there
I would lower carbon dosing and do more water changes to get the bacteria back in equilibrium Zeovit coral snow did wonders for me just last week, same situation |

The white stringy parts are dead chaeto. You need to prune that out of there. It could be dying for many reasons. If you don't have enough flow, not pruning it properly by breaking it up and flipping it over, or you may just not have enough nutrients for the amount you have in there.

looks like it could be dino flagelites. I had a case of that and it did grow on the chaeto and choke it out a bit causing more die off. Either way manual removal is necessary. it would be odd though if it didn't show up in the display tank and only on the chaeto, though.
