Just got my yesterday and hooked it up to my tank. I modified the sponges with a circular knitting template I bought at Walmart for like 95cents. There is two sponge on the BRS plastic chamber. The bottom sponge is glued to the plastic contain so I cut out the area where the water will flow in and replaced it with this flat circular knitting template. This material is easy to cut with a scissor. Then on the top sponge i did the opposite. I cut a hole in the middle of the sponge and also cut out a piece of knitting template to fit the circular area. I insert the circular knitting cut out and then slide in the sponge with the hole in the middle to secure the knitting cut out from falling down. Add your ecobak, adjust your flow and you are done.

Because in the long run the sponge will clog up the reactor.
