AC 70 fuge lighting
Posted this in reef discussion but got no help so figured Do It Yourself forum would be better.
Skip to bolded paragraph to save reading So I will be getting my 25 pounds of marcorocks to add to my already 12 pounds of LR for my 20 gallon tank. Now I need to settle out how to mod my aquaclear 70 for a fuge. I figured I will use the baskets already for the baffles instead of acrylic. Will just do some slits and some silicone. But I tested a clamp lamp and spiral bulb (which some have suggested) and it has way to much overflow. Lights up 1/4 of my tank with lights of. I'm hoping I can get some help from some DIY experts on lighting for my fuge. Help for a newbie reefer. Thanks for reading. |

I used a Jalli 11"light strip over my AC70 fuge. It hangs over a bit but I got great chaeto growth. Some have made a shield to put in front of the fuge to blcok some of the light, but I just ran mine with the lights on on at the same time my tank light was on.

Thanks ezhoops.
hey sugar. I have looked at your mod thread countless times. The difference of mine is that i'm not going to use acrylic. I would like to but rather not buy more stuff. I have seen people use the parts that came with the filter. Where would I look to find the jali light? I see a couple of places but what do you recommend. Ebay doesn't have. And I don't know any online stores that have it. Thanks |

I looked more through your thread sugar and saw someone suggest the coralife mini aqualight. Its 9 inches and would fit perfectly. But it seems it has been discontinued. Is there a way I can get ahold of one? I looked on ebay already.
Also for silicone would this be efficient. It was at petsmart. It would be for modding my AC70 into a fuge. |

Yep, that's the stuff.
There are a bunch of options as far as lighting it goes. I found this cool little LED clip on light at Foster and Smith - http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.co...3&pcatid=20413 Petsolutions has the Jalli strip - http://www.petsolutions.com/Jalli-11...16835+C33.aspx
