What do you mean by sway? Like it doesn't produce a wave-like motion or it doesn't rotate?

Sounds like you don't have it turned up high enough. Which program are you using (i.e. lagoon, reef crest, etc..)?

Mk, do you happen to know how much you have it turned up? (i.e. 40%, 100% yada yada yada)? It might just not be turned up.

well its takes some tuning for sure. you have to find the right frequency. even the smallest adjustment makes a big difference.

I dont own one but from my understanding you are not going to get a wave quite like the wavebox

1) you will not get a wave like a tunze, they make waves but not as powerful as a tunze wavebox.

In order to get a wave you have to set it on short pulse (blue)

in this mode it cranks it up 100% then back down to 20%.

After selecting the mode button to the blue color, hit the set button.

Now slowly turn the adjust knob so that pump changes its timing until the wave forms. Seriously do this very slowly. As you get closer to the sweet spot you will start to see a wave forming. When you finally get it swaying back and forth you will be done.

I got a one inch wave going in my 65g, 3 feet.

Like I said before, while the vortech has a wave function...the tunze would have been a better choice if you wanted a true wave action.

well it def matters how your rock is setup so it could be the wave tank. if there is too much rock the water wont move around them right. i needed 2 to get a decent wave. reefcrest and lagoon mode have better flow patterns than the pulse modes
