Metal Halide question
Hi all. I recently picked up a used system that has 3 MH mogul base bulbs - these are the large wide bulbs, not the straight ones and are 175w. I'm curious if there is any reason I can't go with the straight bulbs - they are much easier to find than the other style. Also, does anyone have any idea what the difference is in heat from a 175w to a 250w to a 400w? These will be for a 200 gal 30" deep reef tank.
TIA all! |

You need to stick with the mogul base bulbs.. Thats what that fixture is made for. The straight ones are double ended.. and will not work in that fixture!

are you sure they are not HPS (high pressure sodium) bulbs?
and what do you mean by diff. in heat? also on a 30" high tank I would at least move up to 250 watt MH's depending on what you want to keep |
