Eheim 1262 hose size

Hi all, I recently bought an Eheim 1262 pump for my 125 gal reef. I have 3/4 inch spa-flex, but it doesn't fit. The pump came with 2 fittings to attach the hose to. One is to big, the other to small. What size hose do you use. Thanks

Same as above, 3/4" black for my return.

I bought a 3/4" thread to slip adapter and put my flex spa on that and seems to be working pretty good.

The adapter threads into the pump directly.

I did the same but 3/4" thread to 1" slip. I used 1" spaflex hose, works good.

So did you cement the spaflex into the slip adapter? I went to Savco.com and they have 3/4" male thread to insert. The insert fits into the spaflex and gets held on with a clamp. This way it can be removed. Would this work also?

It's actually metric. The ID is 16mm and the OD is 20mm. I ended up getting some Eheim tubing and attached that to the stock fitting and then converted it to 3/4" tubing.

Solitude, how did you connect the 16mm to the 3/4"?

16mm is pretty close to 3/4". So what I did was get a barbed 3/4" male fitting and shoved into the 16mm tubing. If you put the 16mm tubing in boiling water for 30 seconds, it softens up the tubing enough to put the 3/4" tubing in there

I would use 1" on a 1262. Use a 3/4" thread to 1" slip adapter.

Well, I decided to order some Eheim 16mm hose from Foster & Smith and then ordered a barbed reducer, 5/8" x 3/4" from some pond company online. I'll use the existing fitting that came with the pump, attach a few inches of 16mm (5/8") hose, then the reducer fitting to 3/4" hose.

I never understood why everything with Eheim is metric, it makes it a real PTA.

I did not want to use a barb and/or connector for two reasons. First I don't like how a barb restrict flow and second I wanted to ensure I have a clean tight connection with no chance of leaks, so no clamps.

I have pvc running from the adapter up about 18 inches to a wye, a true union, 1" of pvc, gate valve, 1" pvc, true union then spa flex to a true union ball valve that connects to the bulkhead. My goal was to make it as modular as I could for any retrofitting, replacement or maintance that needs to be done and I actually had a lot of the fictures lying around.

Its metric because its made in Germany. Like you posted, it is extremely simply to use standard USA fittings though. A 1" PVC setup is cleaner and will flow a lot better than a 16mm 5/8 or 3/4 barb setup. I dont know why anyone would bother with that.

I tried screwing in a 3/4 inch fitting but it wouldn't fit. I compared the threads and they are different. Metric vs standard. I don't want to force it or it will crossthread.

Interesting; I just used a Standard 3/4" Thread-3/4" cement Fitting from "the Depot". Tightened right up....

Does the 3/4 id tubing fit on the supplied output? I just got a new pump and regular 3/4 id tubing does not work. Guy at marine depot said to remove the plastic lock nut and slip hose past barb and over lock nut threads. Does anyone know if this is correct??

I've also done this many times on 1260 and 1262 pumps. 3/4" threads right in.
