Closed loop pump recommendations.
Im looking to put a closed loop on a 75 gallon tank. I already have the lines run, but need some recommendations on a pump. not looking to break the bank. looking for somewhere between 500 and 1000 GPH. (the lines that are run are 3/4)
Thanks

Are you going to run it through some kind of switching valve (OM squirt, or squid) not that that really matters, but I thought I'd ask. I would suggest something like an Eheim, or quiet one. Get a higher quality pump that will last you, and be quiet. I have heard that Tunze makes a really nice and quiet return pump as well, just have no experience with it. I have an Eheim 1262 running my chiller, and it performs great, and is relatively silent. Just an FYI, I have a dolphin amp master 3600 with an OM 4 way for a closed loop in my 176 bow front. Just awesome.

I really like the new Maxijet Utility pumps. Very quiet, and efficient. The NJ4400 might fit the bill for what you need. I have an NJ5500 on my closed loop with an OM Super Squirt.

I have a panworld 200 ps http://www.panworldamericas.com/PSseries.html
it runs about 1,000 gph at about 3'-4' head. I ran 1" plumbing and fittingsand have it all running through a OM squirt valve. here is a couple videos of it working.

If you're planning SPS and going through the effort to drill and plumb a CL, I'd be looking for something more than the 500-1000 range.

no switching... just simple in & out. the only reason I decided to try the closed loop was due to the bulkheads already in place. figured I could get away without having a powerhead in the tank if I just plumb them together with a CL. It'll be a FOWLR tank, so I wont need tons of flow. Its basically going to be a single expensive powerhead.. so I figured I'd rather not spend hundreds on a pump for it. I think I like the Quiet one 3000 pump.
50 bux and done. Jesse: that setup is pretty wicked. I'd like to see some vids after that tank is full of rock & corals.
