would it work ? probably.
but the reason for example Fiji rocks are popular is mostly cause of how much pores the rock has. if the rock weights too much, then not many pores, hence lower surface area and .... . u need to Cure the newly collected rocks for like 6 months. also it has to be takedn from off the shore, if close to shore, too many chemicals and po4 would be in it. |

Be careful with picking up hermits as well. Some could be harmful. Typically stay away from the larger ones. That is a very general statement though, some small ones could be bad too.

LIVE rock is considered ALIVE, and part of ecosystem, so u can get in trouble removing it, and also u can get in trouble taking it to another country, without a permit. |

yea its best that way, they can ruin the night/day/week/month/year lol
I brought a piece of LR from Jamaica back to Canada, like 2 years ago ! I had no Idea it was illegal, and didnt declare it, noone checked and the LR was about 1 lbs or less so nothing really, it just looked nice. I checked with them after and I could have gotten arrested in Jamaica, or had to pay a huge Fine at Canada Customs if they did find it !!! Stupid mistake but I got lucky I didnt get stopped lol |

Caribian rock tends to look like redish bolders and most dont like the look in the tank. They are also harder to stack in a tank.
