Remora Pro Hang on skimmer question
On my Remora & Remora Pro Skimmers, can somebody explain to me how the screw inside the units works? Meaning if I turn it to the left, more skimming or less. Also, I have heard the screw needs to be taken off and cleaned occasionally??? To get the best results that as, doesn't seem like mine has been skimming as good as it used to. Thanks in advance for any advise, if somebody also has one of these or has had one.

The screw allows you to clean the spray injector, has nothing to do with adjusting the skimming. That's done by raising or lowering the collection cup. Take the screw out(very carefully) and stick a brush down thru the hole to clean any gunk that has collected on the spray injector. Put the screw back on but do not overtighten. If you see a little seepage thru the screw that's normal.

Also, you can run the Remora in a bucket of vinegar/water to clean it out. I am not sure of the vinegar to water ratios but I can assume that 1 to 4 vinegar to water would work.

Singold, how old is your Remora? My 6 year old Remora had to be retired. I did routine maintenence on it all the time, cleaning with vinegar and so forth. At about 5 1/2 years it just slowed way down on the skimming. I cleaned it thoroughly and replaced the MJ1200 and it still wasn't skimming well. Basically NO skimmate for days on end, with the collection cup lowered all the way. I run skimmerless now. Too cheap to buy myself a new sklimmer.

I wonder if your "spray injection nozzle" got too big. That would reduce the velocity of the water spraying which would result in less bubbles and skimmate.
