I would use bleach and warm water, then let it sit out in the sun to dry, then use a vinigar and water mix and you should be good to go

there is a product called cupsorb that might be able to be used in conjunction with some carbon in a filter to suck up any remaining copper that may be leaching out of silcone ect.

After all your cleaning, set it up and let it run for a week or so. Then test for copper. If you have any, run carbon and cuprisorb to pull it out. I wouldn't use it for a reef until you know there is no copper.

Oxyclean is much safer than bleach, disinfects just as well & is totally non-toxic, so needs just a little rinsing.

i was allways was told that you cant get copper out of the silicone, not sure how true that is either, i will be watching this one.

i would fill tank with RO water at least half way add a power head and test for copper in a week, a local fish store should test for you if you dont want to buy a test kit for this make sure its a fresh water test though because you wont have salt in the water yet

you have to use RO because your tap might have copper in it

You could always test your tap for copper, before waisting all that RO.
