Phoenix bulb or not??
Recently I went into a fish store and was sold what they told me was an "Aquaconnect" mogul bulb. I don't live close to any so had to drive almost two hours to one. I brought the bulb home happy, as I run Aquaconnects and I wanted to replace with another.
I opened the box. The mogul bulb looked entirely different from an aquaconnect. I called the store and they said it was not an Aquaconnect, that they no longer sell them due to price issues, 'it must therefore be a Phoenix bulb'. On the side of the bulb it says "MH-250W/TD/B MADE IN JAPAN", but nowhere on the bulb does it say "PHOENIX", the box is unremarkable, an ordinary brown box with a UPC sticker on it saying "MB6667". Can someone please tell me if this is a real Phoenix brand bulb, or is it a knockoff?? I really don't want to drive all the way back to return it if it is a Phoenix as I would be willing to give a Phoenix a try. But if it turns out to be a knockoff, I would take it back because if I wanted a knockoff I could get one for $2-$10 on e-bay. I did some research and found out the brand PEC is also PHOENIX, but the bulb has no brand name on it whatsoever.

Here is a link to the markings on a Phoenix bulb. I just bought 2 250 DE bulbs about a month ago and they are just now burning in to steady color. BTW- My bulbs do not have Phoenix anywhere on them either |

The one I bought is a mogul. I looked up some pictures and the bulb shape looks the same but the writing has no PEC or PHOENIX. Anyone know for sure?

MSRP for AquaConnect is over $100 and the Phoenix is around $79. You should at least get some refund or credit if they charged you their AquaConnect price.
BTW... I heard Sanjay ran test on these two bulbs in DE versions and they were so close, almost exact that it's believed they are the same bulb except the price.
