Flasher Wrasse eating chewing and spitting it out?
I've got a new Carpenters Flasher Wrasse. He's eating frozen brine and mysis 'chewing' it for a while and spitting it out. Is this normal?

tenderizing it ? no really some of my wrasses do this when i first get them and then they figure it all out . they are getting nutrition out of the mysis ,the guts but the shell may be to large for them to eat whole until the learn that they can or grow big enough to . i have a wrasse that usually eat three or four mysis then starts spitting them out as your describing ,he's healthy as a horse and five years old .
how small is your wrasse ?

My clowns did that when they were smaller. I think they are just trying to make it smaller. They would keep 'chewing' it and spitting it out, then try again and again.

I have a Tamarind Wrasse that does the same thing. Tamarinds are pickey eaters and she's two years old...fat and happy.

Well, Its really odd, but my Wrasse eats #2 Micro Pellets and I break-up Jumbo Min Food sticks which it goes crazy for. She also picks through the assortment of things in Rod's Herbivore Mix. I also soak the food a couple of times a week in Selcon. Mostly for the Tangs, but it can't hurt. I do use the larger P-Mysis, too.

anything meaty and even some herbivour food every now and then will keep them happy .supplement a few times a month and they should be good .
2" is small and he may be having trouble with the size of the food .
