types of rock
looking to buy some base rock, and have found some labeled as fossil/limestone and other listed as calcium carbonate....any opinions as to which way to go and could i mix the 2 without any chemical issues? i have plenty of time to cure the rock, and its a heck of alot cheaper than live...

I believe most people including myself go with calcium carbonate base rock. I just put some in my tank that I got from Bulk Reef Supply and it is some great stuff! Marco Rocks is also another great source.

+1 on the BRS reef saver rock. That's what I used in my tank and am very happy with it. It is so porous with so many holes that it is so easy to aquascape.
I just noticed they have free shipping right now over 50lbs, which would save you a good bit. |

Try to find a local reefer to hook you up with a piece of established LR with coraline. Just place it in your tank. That is the best way to get it started.
