Sure Flow 1600 MJMOD Kit

Hey anyone know if this Sure Flow 1600 MJMOD Kit from BRS is any good? I got the Maxi jet 1200 which converts a standard maxi jet into a kolralia type powerhead with 2000 GPH... seems like it should work, just hoping someone has used this kit before I buy.

Let me know how it works if you do try it. Does it have a magnetic base?

They flow like crazy, but they don't last very long - which is about what to expect when you're getting 2000 Gallons of flow from $30 of parts.

I have a pair of these in my 75g and have been running them 24/7 for the last two months. I really like the flow for the price especially as I had the MJ900s already. They mount to the three suction cup mount or the hanging clip but the magnet mout is extra. Not bad for the price, time will tell towards durability.

I have a pair of them in my 75 for a couple of years, and never had an issue with them -- they were even on the wavemaker part of my ReefKeeper I. The only reason I stopped using them was bigger I was able to find a red S. Haddoni -- and that was too much flow for it.

They put out a ton of flow. My friend had one in a 45 gallon high, and it was more than enough

The amount of flow you get for the price is great. I have used one on a Maxi-1200 for a year, flows strong. Just don't place it too close to the surface or it will suck air, also keep it clean for best results.

I have 3 1200 mods and a 400 mod going in my 180, I had all 4 of them going in my 75 when I had that up and running, they have been running 24/7 for almost a year with no problems, I wouldnt buy the mod kits from a store though, I got mine on ebay for I think $12.00 and I also got the 1200 maxi jets for about the same price on ebay.

I know when I use my MJ1200 to mix my salt water it really heats up the water.
Has any one had heat issues in their tanks from these?

yup, very good flow . It seems to heat the water about 6 degrees above room temp. In the winter it works out great I do not have to put a heater in there. in the summer I have to cool a little before water changes.

My LFS gave me one of those to try on my 40B. I could not unplug it fast enough ! I literally had a mound of water on the other side of my tank.
