New 125g in works faster than i thought!

Well guys and girls the wife approved the 125g( been nagging for days ) already have the tank and stand but i need to know where to go from here. I have a 75g fowlr tank but it just uses a canister filter. I would really like to go to a sump setup. I have a 4 compartment 55g sump tank for the 125g but i wouldnt know where to place it. my stand is not a cabnet stand its a stand that looks like a giant roman numeral 3. i also have no clue on how to set up a pump so it runs well. ( like what items i need how to make it so if the power goes out it doesnt flood! ) any info would be great this is my project for september i want it to be up and cycling by october. i plan on making this my fowler tank and turning my 75g into a reef with my clowns and cromis. any advice or links on what i need or how to set up welcome!

thanks tom

P.s. should i garage the stand and get another with a cabnet?

Most want their sump hidden with all the cables and crap showing. If you can skin it somehow you could still use it.
Is your tank drilled? I would go that route and check in to the silent and failsafe overflow system in the DIY section. Return pump could be two smaller ones like mag 5 or a bigger one like a mag 12. Eheim are good to, so is Rio. I run two different Rio on two different tanks in sump and they are quite, I have heard though that is better on the bigger ones. Sump just needs to be full enough to pump water back into your tank, but be able to handle the water that comes out through your overflow if power goes out. You really won't know that until you get your tank and sump with water.

Why go with the smaller 75 as your reef? The 125 will give you more room for corals and be more forgiving, especially with the added sump, on your water parameters.

If you don't want to see the sump you'll need a cabinet of some sort.
Good sump animation here.

mabye putting both taks into the 55 gallon sump would work well so they caould share 250 gallons.
