Properly skim a 125 with HOB

Well I just picked up a 125 gallon tank which will eventually be a QT tank. I do not want to use the HOB overflow it came with and its not drilled. I have approx 175lbs live rock in it right now with no sand and stocked with 2 small tangs (maybe 3-4"), a small butterfly, a clown, a cardinal, and a carpet anemone. Once my 250 gallon in wall build is done I will transfer the live rock and run a proper QT. I only have these fish because they came with the setup. Two of the fish have HLLE currently. The tank was nasty when I got it. First concern is getting these 2 sickies a clean bill of health!

In the meantime with the minimal fish I have and the 175lbs live rock what would I need to do to get away with a HOB skimmer or two and keep the water quality good? This tank will be running for about a year. The live rock will only be in it for about 3 months. I do have an Aqua C Remora with a maxjet 1200 on it now (I picked it up locally yesterday and got the tank up and running yesterday as well. I dont think the Remora will suffice by itself... I need to figure out proper skimming this week. Thanks so much for the help!
