Depends on how much sand you have and how dirty your tank is. Maybe 2?

My tank is ~ 6 months old. 29 gallon. I have maybe 4-5 nassarius. A turbo, and 2x tiny hermits. I'd skip the hermits (they eat baby snails) and maybe the turbo (coral bulldozer). I'd say snag 2 to start and see how they do. If you need more, add a few more.

I think someone asked this recently. Are you doing it to breed and hold them for sale and just want to know how many you can pack in there, or are you looking as part of a clean-up crew?

At about an inch in size, the tank can hold about 3,600. Less if you want things like rock, sand, fish...

The tank will probably "hold" more than you need, start with a few and add more if warranted.

I started with almost 10 in my 29 and ended up with 2-3. I don't think there was enough food to support more than that.
