Need help deciding!

Hello all I am getting back into reefing after 15 years. I have a 125gallon which is cycling at the moment.

Here is a outline of what I have and what I possibly want to do:

LifeReef Prefilter (double)
ADHI-Refugia 30 30x14x18
Mag18 Return Pump

The Protein skimmer I am looking at getting is the bubble king mini 180. The problem I face is the footprint is 10.5" x 11". The first chamber of the ADHI is 13 1/2"x10. Would it be possible to mod the bubble king somehow to fit in that space? If not here is what I was thinking: I could turn the ADHI into a dual refugium. I could T off one of the hoses and add a spraybar to the line going into the ADHI and limit the flow with a ball valve. The rest of the water would go into a second sump which houses the protein skimmer. I would then connect the 2 sumps via the 1" outlet on the side. I was also hoping to put the mag18 in the refugium sump to have more copepods going back to the display tank.

If I go this route:
Will the water level in the 3rd chamber of the refugium be the same level as the second sump with the protein skimmer? Will this work if the pump is in the restricted flow sump (refugium), in essence still pulling a majority of the water from the protein skimmer sump through the 1" pvc connecting the 2 sumps?

Can I have the 2 1" outlets at the same level or do I have to gravity feed one into another?

Do I need to drill 2 outlets per sump to help with water flow or will 1 do?

Of course I want to avoid flooding or my pumps running dry.

In a perfect world I would just like to stick the bubble king in the first chamber of my ADHI and call it a day but its looking like that's not possible since I am about 1/2" smaller in that chamber than the footprint.

Or I could just opt for another protein skimmer that will fit but I really have my eye set on the bubble king unless you guys have a comparable suggestion for a protein skimmer.
