Question/opinion on angel.
Ok, so I have a 65 gallon display with a 38 gallon refugium, I have a very small Korean angel that nips at leathers, and recently took out a coral beauty that was mean as can be. What are your guys thoughts about flame angels or potters angels in my tank? I understand they are not considered reef safe but I havent seen the korean nip at any lps and I dont have any sps yet to know how that would go. Just wanted opinions, and also I will be getting either a 125 or larger tank within the next year or so, so my plan is to get the fish small and as they get larger move things over to the bigger tank.

Angels for the most part are going to nip at corals you may get lucky and get one that does not but i would try to stay away from them.

Do you mean "Koran" angel?
If so, it will get way way too big for a 65, and even too big for a 125 -- so I would get rid of that fish before even considering getting any other fish.

a 125g will not sustain this fish long term, and chances are, at some point that Koran is going to decide your corals are a snack. If you care more about having an angel, than you do about your corals, I'd suggest looking at one of the Centropyge species... they would be happy in the 65g indefinitely. a flame or potters angel is a good choice for your tank if you're willing to take the chance of having to move corals out if/when they decide to eat them. It's not a good idea to buy fish for the upgrade that may or may not ever happen. |

Ok, so I took the angels out and managed to find good local homes for them in much larger tanks, I decided I will run the tank without any angels. I have recently added a few new corals and also determined I might be getting the 125 sooner then I thought.. I just need to decide if it is a better Idea to persue the idea of a 65 reef or a 125 reef for the next 2 years before I move. If I move it will most likely be within a 30 minute radius of where I am now, but I am planning on buying my own home and decided a 125 is the size tank I will want, I will most likely run a 55 or 75 for my sump/refuge.
