quick rock cycling question

I have about 30 lbs of rock that i boiled and is now in a tub of salt water with a powerhead/maxijet, light and heater. Been in the tub for about 2 weeks. Ammonia spiked, now its zero. Done 2 water changes in the tub. The nitrate is out of this world
Can I put the rock in because the ammonia is now zero, or do i have to wat for the nitrate to go down?

Pull all the rock out, drain the tub 100% and replace with new water. Resume testing after 24hrs and see what comes up..

+1 on the 100% water change. Basic nitrate export, get it out of the system.

Where do you get your water? It doesnt add up to have nitrates that high after your cycle. That sounds more like a system with no NNR and no water changes for a real long time.

Agreed on the water change. Wouldn't hurt to test your water source first.
