First of all NanoBen, we need to talk about updating your name, with referrence to your tank. Then I would pull up the SWC website and let you take a look at the SWC 350 Xtreme. Then you can put $400 back in the bank or tell your wife you tripped @ the LFS and lost the 400$, I won't tell.

Royal-Exl Vertex 200 $900
Royal-Exl Vertex 250 for $1200

Reef Dynamics
RD INS-300 $600 has 10in dia body 24 tall
RD INS 350 $700 10in by 26 tall
RD INS 400 $1000 12in by 24 tall

I was considering the Vertex 300 for my 475g FO but I think I am going to get a Reef Dynamics skimmer instead. I like the Laguna/Red Dragon pumps the Vertex skimmers use but I found a used RC-1000 with a Dart NW & I like the idea of a external pump instead of powerheads.

Some really like the I-Tech line of cone skimmers & for close to $1000 I am sure they have something that would work for you.

How old are your two pumps? It really not a bad skimmer, just "old", not very sexy I'll admit. If my two pumps quit I'd give real thought to a laguna pump and plug the other hole. I'm more likely to just replace the pumps though. Picked mine up used, really liking it.

I also have ozone. Picked it up when Deb needed to sell her gear. Maybe that would help?

Well the 200 seems kinda small. I was thinking alpha 300. Super reef xp5000 external or maybe the new ati coming out. But I don't know what size it's rating is or if they are going to make some others as well
I have a buddy that's selling a bk300 deluxe but it's a old version but has the 2000 pump
it doesn't seem like it pulls enough air to compete with the new skimmers on the market now

some worry about overskimmer..... not sure if a 300 would be to much

200 would get you under your pricepoint
250 a little over the price point
300 some might think it's to much??
