Best mode and sync mode for MP40's?

I have a 6 foot SPS tank. I have two Vortech EcoSmart Vortechs, one on each end. Right now I have it set in Random Reefcrest mode, with the two in anti-sync mode, meaning one does the exact opposite of what the other pump is doing at that same moment. Anyone have any better suggestions for modes for my setup for SPS?

I think most people run theirs in Reef Crest. I do myself. Couple times a week i'll switch it to Ecosmart just to clean up the tank a little.

Add two more mp40's for a wild ride. = )

I run vortechs in short pulse mode but dont dial it in for a wave. The pumps are in anti sync. The pumps are set to 80% power. Running the vortechs in this fashion creates nice random turbulance in the tank. The reef crest setting works ok, but sometimes it tones down to much a bit for my taste. I like a strong constant flow more similar to lagoon mode. If you look at the quick start manual and compare reef crest to lagoon mode you can see lagoon doesnt power down like reef crest. Lagoon provides more constant flow. I strived for the lagoon mode with a touch more random turbulant flow. I use four mp40 on a 5ft tank.

my tank is 60x30x24

Rather than starting a new thread, did little homework and found this old thread. Pat on back for me

Just started up my tank 96x36x23, three mp40's, left center right-all on back wall facing front with no obstructions. Manual says ecosmart ntm promotes maximum health, nutrient export, and increased growth for sensitive corals such as SPS. But I think they have to be in anti sync for this to work.
I personally have not found my favorite mode and was not able to master slave them yet but not sure I even want to.

Does anyone know how long the cycles are?
Manual says "over the course of several hours"
Well that's vague!

I think it would be neat to see videos of the different modes.

I use the APEX WXM module to control my MP40s. I have the pumps changing cycles throughout the day (I try to think of the ocean and how I think it may change throughout the day)...as well as intensity in said modes....as well as changing from SYNC to ANTISYNC.

I find that my fish move all over the place due to the different flow patterns, I have no detritus on the bottom of my tank and I like seeing my Torch, BTA, OTA and Polpys moving from right to left, back to front...etc.

The WXM module allows to you pretty much do anything you want so you don't have to stick with a certain mode.

Oh for JT48 - Look on Youtube, there are a ton of videos/demos with Flow patterns etc...

My tank is 150g Tall - 48x30x24...so I have the ability to stratesfy my tank with insane surface flow, nice mid flow and a slow undertoe.

Cheers,

Matt.

It is my understand that the Ecosmart modes (TSM and NTM) are designed to work with the pumps in specific positions. That is, one on the right wall, one on the left wall, and one on the back. With all 3 on the back, I do not think it will work the same. Lagoon mode will move a greater volume of water than reef crest, but is less chaotic.
