Add my rocks?

My 28g bowfront tank will be getting an upgrade to a 40 breeder as soon as my tank arrives in town, already paid for... I have prob 30lbs LR at least in the tank right now, with a few pieces in my sump...

In anticipation of the new tank, I have 25 pounds of dry marco rock that will be added...My question is, should I add it to my current tank if I will be getting the new tank in less than a week? Would I do more harm than good, seeing as I would be doing a new aquascape when adding and putting most of the current rock in the sump... Should I just wait till the tank gets here to do anything with the rock? What should I do with the dry rock? opinions? thanks

if you put the rock in now it will be okay unless you have a heavy bioload in the tank now as it may give you a mini cycle .
what is currently in your tank for livestock now ?

tomato clown, bicolor pseudo, yellow watchman goby, and 2 days ago a TINY 6 line wrasse....they were all added spaced out quite a bit...all are pretty small, none are even halfway grown yet...

The rescape may cause a spike, and the new scape will only be in place maybe a week till I get the 40breeder in... But, if it helps to add the rock, I will do it...

actually the fish will probably be better off with just one change so you may want to wait till your new tank arrives . if you add a piece of rock now it probably wont hurt but you may want to slow down so there is just one change and spike which will be small but noticeable .
best of luck to ya !

You can place them in the sump if you got space in there. This way, they will be colonized by pods, bacteria, etc.

I may just do an extra water change, cant hurt things, lol... take the wc water and add one live rock and all of my marco rock and add my maxi1200 till I get my tank...that way its seperate from the main tank..
