GSP staying closed
My 150 gal had run fishless for 8 weeks as part of Ich treatment. Feeding nothing but the shrimp, anemones and hermits. Several coral in there, including a nice rock covered in green star polyps. GSP seemed to be thriving, in a high flow area, midway down under 150 w MH lights. Put in a 6 line wrasse, a tennenti tang, and a mandarin dragonete 2 days ago. Since then, the GSP has stayed closed.
Params: Ammonia, trires, trates are undetectable. SG 1.026, temp 78-82. Ca 460, pH 8.2. Phosphates undetectable. Alk a little low at 2. Don't have a mag test. What do you all think is causing the GSP to not open after the fish were in? I don't see any of the fish nipping. Thanks for any help!

Did you move it or anything? My GSP is very finicky.. any changes and it stays closed for a bit. Even up to a couple weeks. I added a powerhead a few days ago and now half of my gsp is in and half is out.

When I took down my tank, there is a rock covered with GSP that I left in the rock trash bin. I had no heater or light just a small pump. It sat there for 2 months until someone bought it. When they put the rocks into the tank, they found that the GSP is still alive. Also, I dip some of the rock in hot water to kill of some GSP, to my amaze, there were survivor.

No, they were not moved. The only change from 8 weeks ago was the addition of fish. My readings tell me that GSP is hardy and can survive in a wide range of parameters. Needless to say, that made me feel real small and stupid when they did not open up. I don't see any receding in their line, so it may be that they are just finicky and reacting to having these fish all of a sudden swimming around when there were none for over 2 months. I guess I'll just wait them out.

Whatever you did if you find out let us all know, as there are a ton of us there who would love to finally rid our tanks of GSP lol.

I remember I almost killed off all my gsp by accident due to hyposalinity.
