9011 Questions

I'd like to purchase a 9011 for use in a very small sump (12 gallons) that serves 2 tanks (DT and FT) total of ~60 gallons, very heavily stocked with SPS.

Available sump space is limited to 5 1/4" X 6 1/2" with a cabinet height of 25"

Water level can be set 9"-11"

A few questions...
  • Is the extension set needed for this in-sump use?
  • Will the 9011 with the extension set fit in the space available? (it appears it might be able to be turned diagonally in the sump for extension set clearance if the mounting options support same.)
  • What purpose does the foam extraction unit serve and is it needed for this configuration?
  • Is there a drain on the collection cup allowing the skimmate to be collected in a larger contained (I travel a lot.)
Thank you for your assistance. Any other suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

You don't need the extension set if you can keep a very constant water level of about 10.5", the extension set is included.

It will be very close,I cannot promise it will fit. it may fit at a diagonal.

9020.140 will blow off the foam into a large bucket of your choice.

Thanks Roger - I'm going to give it a try. I did a quick search of online retailers listed on the Tunze website, but can't seem to locate any dealers that stock both the 9011 and 9020.140 - Are you aware of any?

9020.140 is not a very popular accessory, largely because I think it is relatively unknown, we are clearing an overstock and I have 3 available at $80.
